Our story

It started with a bulletin board.

// the good part of the bulletin board, in your pocket.

We spend so much of our lives at work. TOCTalk exists so that time can come with real community — on our terms, not the company's.

Why I built this

An outdated bulletin board, and a better idea.

There's an old bulletin board at my workplace — the cork kind, with a few thumbtacks and some flyers that have been up so long the tape's gone yellow. A shift you're trying to sell. A truck for sale. A retirement potluck three Thursdays ago. It's where our little community lived, and honestly, half of it worked. People still stopped to read it.

But it was stuck to a wall. If you weren't walking past it, you missed it. And the moment I thought "there should be an app for this," I already knew the kind of app I didn't want — not another feed engineered to keep you scrolling, not another place selling your attention, not something the company owns and quietly watches over your shoulder.

I just wanted the good part of that bulletin board, in everyone's pocket: sell the tools, plan the cookout, ask the group, give a shout-out, keep up with the people you actually work beside. Community without all the other social-media noise.

So I built it. Nights and weekends, on my own dime, independent from the ground up. That's TOCTalk.

Our mission

Connect the workplace. Keep it independent. Respect the people in it.

These aren't slogans on a wall — they're the rules we build by.

Independent, always

Not owned by, run by, or connected to any employer. No management dashboard, no company login, no admin view — none of it was ever built. We can't stop a manager signing up like any other member, which is why anonymous posting exists and why we never hand an employer your name.

You're not the product

We never sell your personal information. We use data to improve the app and, in aggregate, to keep the community healthy — not to build a profile of you.

Advertise to the community, not to you

Local businesses can buy a clearly-labeled sponsored spot. It's aimed at the community as a whole — never targeted at you as an individual, and never at the cost of your privacy.

Come build it with us

Your workplace, your community.
